ABOUT NUR ISLAMIC SCHOOL OF LOUISVILLE (NISL) 

Nur Islamic School of Louisville (NISL) is a private, nonprofit Islamic school serving students from early childhood through Grade 12 in Louisville, Kentucky. Our campus brings together education, faith, and community in one unified environment designed to support students and families at every stage of development.

NISL includes Green Tree Academy (GTA), which serves children from birth through preschool, and operates Guiding Light Islamic Center (GLIC), the masjid that supports the spiritual life of our school and community.

Together, GTA, NISL, and GLIC are one unified organization, working to provide a strong academic foundation, nurture Islamic identity, and support families from infancy through high school graduation.

NISL is fully accredited by Cognia and the Council of Islamic Schools of North America (CISNA) and is certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. These accreditations reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in academics, governance, student support, and continuous improvement.

Green Tree Academy
Green Tree Academy provides high-quality early childhood education for children from birth through preschool. The program focuses on nurturing curiosity, language development, early literacy, and social-emotional growth in a safe and caring environment rooted in Islamic values.

Nur Islamic School of Louisville
Students transition from early childhood into NISL’s comprehensive Kindergarten through Grade 12 program, where they continue to build strong academic foundations, deepen their Islamic identity, and develop leadership skills.

Guiding Light Islamic Center 
Guiding Light Islamic Center serves as the spiritual center for students and families. Through daily prayers, community programs, and religious services, the masjid strengthens the faith-based environment that supports student growth and character development.

Although each program serves a distinct purpose, all operate under one unified mission to educate the whole child academically, spiritually, and socially.
