History
Curious about where it all began? Our first inception was in the hearts of certain individuals from our community. In 1999, our community was blessed with a few families who wanted something better for their children and did not settle for a secular education. They wanted more. They wanted to give their offspring their born right to a good Islamic upbringing and Islamic education. They believed that the best way to raise a child with a sound heart and a sound mind was to provide them with education within a safe, moral, and stimulating environment that promotes Islamic identity, fosters a good Islamic character, and instills Islamic principles in their lives. They had to be able to live it and breathe it on a daily basis.
What was quite remarkable about those families was that they took this idea and saw it to fruition. They made it happen! They formed a school and registered it with a state as Nur Islamic School of Louisville, Inc. Ever since; we have been a pillar of the Louisville and Southern Indiana community, expanding our roots to make our tree of knowledge sturdy, stable, purposeful, vision-driven, and nurturing. One that provides a shade to the young, vulnerable hearts, feeds the souls of our future Ummah, and extends the branches of knowledge to each that dares to join us.
Then, in 2010, Allah blessed our school with a new building that would allow us to expand to include a middle school and a fully licensed Early Childhood Center as well as have ample space for everything that a school may need to provide quality instruction and development such as a computer and Science lab, cafeteria, kitchen, large classrooms, and a very large outdoor space for future growth. This is just to name a few! This is thanks to those individuals who believed in the school and went above and beyond to find the right property for us. No doubt that entailed hard work, long hours of planning, searching, seeking out stakeholders and donors who shared and believed in the same cause, sweat, tears, but very strong hearts and a lot of patience.
May Allah continue to reward the founding families until the Day of Judgment for their role in establishing the school it is today and what it will be tomorrow! May He continue to reward everyone who had a hand in our growth and success including our Board of Directors, teachers, parents, students, donors, and other stakeholders. Our Lord is a witness to the countless hearts and minds we impact on a daily basis.
