Fourth Grade
About Our Class
This year is the last year for the students in lower school. Keeping that in mind, I try to incorporate as much independence, responsibility, and hands on experience in their learning as possible. As one student describes our class, “We do a lot of work, but it never feels like it. It’s always fun.” We follow the Common Core State Standards that are being used around the nation. Our classroom starts with a Problem of the Day that has the students dive straight into problem solving as soon as they come into the class. We cover math, reading, writing, social studies and science on a daily basis. The students also enjoy Arabic and Qur’an everyday with Sr. Bothaina. During the day the students will typically have some free time when they complete their work early, they use this time to read books from the class library, play games on the class iPad, or do activities at the Activity Center. |
About Me
I grew up in Dallas, Texas and moved to Louisville last year. I earned my B.A. at Mount Holyoke College in psychology and am planning on pursuing my masters in education. This is my second year teaching elementary school and I absolutely love it. I believe each child has an imagination that deserves to be tapped, and that imagination will lead them to great things. In my classroom, the students know never to use the words “I can’t”. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, read, and bake.
