Math & Science
Assalamu Alaikum!
Welcome to the Middle School Math & Science classroom, where students are challenged and inspired to perform at a high level of academic standard. About Our Class My passion and excitement for Math & Science give me strength to provide a program that encourages my students to excel at the highest levels. Students will develop important critical-thinking and decision-making skills. They will also establish the ability to communicate mathematical and scientific concepts effectively. In our classroom, every student has the potential for academic success. Students are held to high expectations of academic performance, and with the resources and support that I provide them with, they are able to rise up to the challenge. To supplement my Math lessons in class, I use Khan Academy, an online math program that is also aligned with the Math Common Core State Standards. It helps students focus on the skills they need most, while also allowing the advanced students who learn at a faster pace to get ahead. I also offer after school tutoring for Math to help the students who might need one on one help stay on level with the rest of their class. I follow a rigorous curriculum that is aligned with the Kentucky State Standards; students are graded on tests, classwork, projects, and even homework. I want my students to leave my classroom having gained the necessary skills to succeed in life, and appreciating the usefulness, power, and integral beauty of Math & Science! |
About Me
My name is Seham Aggad and this is my second year teaching at NISL. I moved to Louisville 2 years ago from Albuquerque, NM. I attended the Albuquerque Institute of Math and Science, a science and technology charter high school, and was among the top 10% students in the state. Throughout my years in high school, I competed in school science fairs, with my projects taking me to the regional level, and then on to state level. Following my passion for science, I participated in a chemistry internship at Sandia National Laboratories. I attended the University of New Mexico, and now I am finishing off my Bachelors degree in Biology at Indiana University Southeast. I plan to further pursue a Masters degree in Education insha Allah. While I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and being active in the Masjid organizing activities for the sisters in our community.
